Richmond, TX - The 2025 George Ranch baseball team begins the season as the lone remaining member from last year's District 20-6A campaign. The Fort Bend ISD schools have been replaced with two fellow Lamar CISD schools, Foster and Fulshear, private school Strake Jesuit, and three Alief ISD schools, Taylor, Hastings, and Elsik. Fifteen opponents on this year's schedule, including three quarters of the 6A state bracket (Pearland, Tomball, and Bridgeland), made the playoffs.
The Longhorns open the season on February 17 at state runner-up Pearland. This is the fourth consecutive year that George Ranch and Pearland have opened with each other. Last year, the Longhorns topped the Oilers 14-5 at Longhorn Baseball Field.
The first tournament of the year has George Ranch headed up State Highway 99 for five games in the Cy-Fair ISD Classic Baseball Tournament. The Longhorns open on Thursday, February 20 with Klein Oak who is coming off a Regional Quarterfinal appearance and Cy Park. Friday has George Ranch taking on two playoff teams, Cy Ranch and Klein Collins. Saturday's tournament finale features state semifinalist Bridgeland.
On Tuesday, February 24, the Longhorns travel to Missouri City for a non-district matchup against former District 20-6A foe Elkins. George Ranch won both meetings last year.
The second weekend of the season has the Longhorns traveling to the north side of Houston to play in the Klein ISD Varsity Baseball Tournament. George Ranch will face two opponents for the first time in program history, Kingwood Park and Klein Forest. The Longhorns also face Klein Collins for the second time in as many weeks as well as play two games against Jersey Village.
After the Klein ISD tournament, yet another former District 20-6A opponent appears on the schedule as George Ranch hosts Clements in the home opener on March 3. Last year, the Longhorns and Rangers split the season series.
The final tournament before the start of district play takes the Longhorns back up State Highway 99 for the Tomball Big Cat Tournament. Last year's trips to Tomball were a success as the Longhorns went 4-1, including wins over Tomball Memorial and eventual state champion Tomball. This year, the Longhorns face Cy Ridge, 5A Colleyville Heritage, Clear Lake, Tomball, and a familiar opponent from District 19-6A, Katy Tompkins.
This year's district schedule features two games per week against the same opponent. The Longhorns open district play on March 11 with LCISD rival Foster at Longhorn Baseball Field. That Friday, George Ranch travels to Foster.
District play continues with Strake Jesuit, Alief Elsik, and the first ever meeting between Fulshear and George Ranch. The Longhorns end district play with series against Alief Taylor and Alief Hastings.
On the final Monday of the season, yet another former District 20-6A opponent returns to Longhorn Baseball Field. Ridge Point, now in District 21-6A, faces off against George Ranch in the final regular season contest of the 2025 campaign.
George Ranch completed a successful 2024 season before dropping a heartbreaking loss in Game 3 of the Bi-District round. The Longhorns were 24-11 overall and finished in second place in District 20-6A with a 13-3 record.
